Wonders of the Pakistan; Rannikot Fort

Near Sann in the Jamshoro District of Sindh is the old Talpur fort known as Ranikot Fort, often spelled Rannikot. With a perimeter of roughly 32 kilometres, it is also referred to as The Great Wall of Sindh and is thought to be the largest fort in the entire world. The Great Wall of China has been likened to the fort's walls. On the Indus Highway, Ranikot Fort lies 90 kilometres north of Hyderabad. The Indus Highway connects Karachi to Sann with ease; the trip takes around an hour.

Unknown are the original goals and designers of Ranikot Fort. Previously, it was thought that the fort was constructed under Sassanid rule. However, more recent evidence indicates that the fort was built by Nawab Wali Muhammed Leghari, the Prime Minister of Sindh under the Talpur dynasty, and that it was originally built by the Talpurs.
