Wonders of the Pakistan; Hingol Mud Volcanoes
Hingol Mud Volcano is located in Lasbela District, Balochistan, Pakistan, about 100 km away from Uthal, the headquarters of Lasbela District. Mud volcanoes are located in Hingol National Park, Pakistan's largest national park. It contains about 10 mud volcanoes, the most important of which are Chandragup and Kandewari. These are off the main road about 1 km off the Makran Coastal he highway that runs from Rasvera to Gwadar. A local may be able to provide clues to the exact location. A milestone is the SSGC installation.
This site is a complex of three large mud volcanoes and
several smaller ones. These three mud volcanoes in this place are called
Chandragup 1, Chandragup 2 and Chandragup 3. One of these is a 300-foot-tall
mud volcano. It is an annual sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus. Also known as
Chandrakup, the volcano is considered sacred to Hindus and is an important site
for pilgrims en route to Hinglaj Mata Temple. Devotees throw coconuts into the
crater to make wishes and thank the gods for their prayers being answered along
with the nearby Hinglaj Mata Mandir.
